The Matteo Music Scholarship was created by Joseph P. Matteo in 2014 to honor the Matteo Family—specifically, his father Joseph, who was a musician; his brother Ernie, who was a musician and music educator; and his sister Violet, who was a music educator. The scholarship is administrated by TJ Arts. This scholarship is offered each year to a graduating senior from Thomas Jefferson High School who intends to major in some aspect of music in college.
Previously a $1,000 one-time scholarship, starting in 2022, the Matteo family is now offering up to $3,000 to the most promising senior majoring in instrumental music, vocal performance, musical theater, music production, music composition, music education, or other major related to music. Candidates for this scholarship must be enrolled in an eligible educational institution in pursuit of further education in some aspect of music.
